Warehouse Safety
A secure warehouse forms the foundation of both a safe working environment and a sustainable, long-term operation. On this page, we provide essential information about regulations and requirements for racking systems, aiming to minimize risks, enhance workplace safety, and ensure the secure storage of goods.

Handling Pallets and Heavy Goods Requires Safe Solutions
By law, companies are responsible for ensuring that employees work in a safe environment and with safe equipment. In a warehouse setting, the work environment often involves risks due to the fast pace, the movement of forklifts and people, and the handling of heavy goods. It is essential to follow the correct rules and safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries. At BLS, we have deep expertise in this area and ensure consistent support throughout every project, from start to finish.

Key Aspects of Warehouse Safety
Ensuring that racking systems are protected against collisions and collapse, and clearly labeled with the maximum load capacity for each unit, is crucial to meeting all applicable rules and requirements. This includes compliance with EN-15635:2008, the European standard for static steel storage systems covering installation, operation, and maintenance.
Collision Guards
Collision guards are necessary in areas where mechanical loading and unloading with forklifts or similar equipment occurs, and where there is a risk of damage to posts due to collisions.
Safety mesh
Safety mesh must always be in place where there is a risk that loose falling goods could fall out of the racking and injure someone.
Push-through protection
Push-through protection is required where there is a risk that someone might push a pallet through to the other side, which could lead to serious injuries.
Load capacity sign
A load capacity sign must always be mounted and visible to all users of the racking.

With our support, you can feel confident knowing your warehouse is in top condition – ready to meet today’s and tomorrow’s challenges.

Note!
According to European Standard EN 15635: Personnel working in and around pallet racking must be informed about how to use the system safely to ensure a secure working environment for themselves and others.
Excerpt from EN 15635:2008
Personnel working in and around pallet racking must be informed about how to use the system safely, in order to ensure a secure working environment for themselves and others.
Any observed safety issues or damage must be reported immediately to the person responsible for the safety of the storage equipment.
The person responsible for the safety of the storage equipment must ensure that visual inspections are carried out weekly or at other regular intervals based on a risk assessment.
At least once a year, an inspection must be carried out by a trained inspector.

Store pallets in racks
It is important to load the rack correctly to avoid improper stress on the rack, which can result in damage to the storage equipment and accidents. Understanding how the storage system works and how the load carriers, where the goods are stored, should be loaded is crucial for increased safety.
